The Governor of Lagos State, Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu, on Wednesday said the late Dr Sunny Ajose’s commitment to progress and development shaped the lives of many in Badagry and Lagos.
Sanwo-Olu disclosed this during the lying-in-state ceremony of late APC leader in Badagry.
The governor, who was represented by Mr Mobolaji Ogunlende, the State Commissioner for Youths and Social Development, said the late politician’s influence extended far beyond the boundaries of his roles.
“We gather here today to pay tribute to a remarkable individual, Mr Sunny Ajose, whose life and legacy have left an indelible mark on our community.
“Ajose was not only a former head of service but also an exemplary leader who served as the apex leader in Badagry.
“A dedicated member of the Governance Advisory Council under the Lagos State Governor, Ajose was a visionary who dreamed of a better future for all,” he said.
The governor said that the late APC leader worked tirelessly to advocate for policies that promoted growth, inclusivity and the well-being of every citizen.
“Throughout his 79 years of life, he embodied the values of integrity, compassion, and service to others.
“Today, as we come together to honor his memory, let us reflect on the profound impact he made through his leadership, mentorship, and unwavering dedication to serving his community.
“Ajose was a beacon of hope, inspiring countless individuals to strive for excellence and to work collaboratively for the greater good.
“As we bid farewell to a great leader and a dear friend, let us carry forward his legacy of service, compassion, and unwavering commitment to our community.
“May we honor his memory by continuing the work he started and striving to make a difference in the lives of those around us,” he said.
Mr Joseph Gbenu, the Chairman, Badagry-West Local Council Development Area (LCDA) speaking on behalf of the three council chairmen, said Ajose had touched everyone in Badagry.
Gbenu said the late politician helped majority of APC politicians to get to where they were today.
“We called him the young, not knowing that his time had come.
“We will forever miss his advice and assistance in Badagry,” he said.
Chief Sulaiman Iroko, representing all APC Chieftains in Badagry said all politicians in Badagry were benefactors of Dr Ajose.
He urged all residents of Badagry to emulate the late politician.
Alhaji Gafar Meyon, the Chairman, APC in Badagry said Ajose unified all in Badagry.
Mr Setonji David, the Chief Whip of Lagos State House of Assembly and lawmaker representing Badagry Constituency 2, said Badagry had lost a great man.
David said that Ajose would be remembered because he worked for development of Badagry division.
Mr Joseph Bamgbose, the former lawmaker representing Badagry Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives said the late politician touched many lives in Badagry.
Bamgbose said Ajose made many politicians what they were in Badagry today.
He prayed that God should grant him paradise.
Mr Olusegun Onilude, the Chairman, Badagry Local Government Area, said Ajose would be remembered forever in Badagry.
In her remarks on behalf of the family, Mrs Fisher Ajose-Fisher, the daughter of Ajose, said the family was grateful to the people of Badagry and Lagos for coming out to celebrate their father even in death.
“We are all gathered here today not to mourn or grief but to celebrate a great man.
“I charge everyone here today to please use your voice and heart for humanity, kindness and love.
“We are grateful to you for coming out to celebrate our father,” she said.
APC Chieftains from Lagos and Badagry, important personalities and residents of the town graced the ceremony.
