
Lagos State Deputy Governor, Dr. Kadri Obafemi Hamzat, has urged public servants in the state to continually strive for innovation and excellence in their duties, emphasizing the importance of effective service delivery for the progress of the state and nation.
Dr. Hamzat made the call during the Annual Staff Retreat of the Office of the Deputy Governor, held at the Novotel Hotel in Lekki, with the theme: “The Role of Employees in the Turnaround Process of the 21st Century Public Services.”
Addressing the gathering, the Deputy Governor noted that each officer of the state public service, regardless of rank, plays a crucial role in the success of the state and the nation.
“It’s important that in whatever role we find ourselves, we must do our best. If everybody can take care of their roles and do their responsibilities well, this country will fly,” Hamzat said.
Hamzat further emphasized that cultivating a culture of mutual respect among citizens is vital for creating a harmonious society, one that supports positive relationships and a shared vision for the future.
The Deputy Governor also pointed out the rapid advancements in technology, including the rise of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Artificial Neural Intelligence (ANI), stressing that it is essential for Nigerians to adapt and prepare for the future to secure better prospects for the coming generations.
In her welcome address, Mrs. Mobolaji Daba, the Permanent Secretary of the Office of the Deputy Governor, expressed gratitude to Dr. Hamzat for facilitating the retreat, which provided a valuable opportunity for the staff to reflect, share experiences, and learn techniques aimed at improving their performance.
He urged attendees to upskill and adopt a more professional approach to meet the demands of the 21st-century public service.
