On 1st February 2025 at 4 pm, police operatives from the Ogidi Area Command arrested 32-year-old Joshua Simeon from Ohaozara, Ebonyi State, at Nkpor Central Park in Idemili North Local Government Area, based on reliable information. The team also rescued a five-year-old girl, Nkemdilim Jacob, who had allegedly been taken from her parents in Umuota Village, Obosi, in the same region.
According to SP Tochukwu Ikenga, the spokesperson for the Anambra State Police Command, “The suspect had already boarded a commercial vehicle and was en route to an unknown destination when he was apprehended. He is currently in custody and undergoing interrogation to uncover his motives and to determine whether this incident is part of a larger child trafficking network.”
Ikenga further stated, “Efforts are underway to contact the parents or relatives of the recovered child for a potential reunion.
“The Command is dedicated to protecting the vulnerable members of society, combating child abduction and trafficking, and ensuring the safety and well-being of all children in the state.”
