Breaking: APC Members Flood the Streets! Plead with Tinubu to Halt Obasa’s Controversial Candidate Imposition—Enough Is Enough!

Members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council in Agege and Orile-Agege have urgently appealed to President Bola Tinubu to intervene over what they describe as the forced imposition of political candidates by Lagos State House of Assembly Speaker Mudashiru Obasa. The APC representatives accused Obasa of handpicking allies, including a proposed chairman who is reportedly bedridden and his son, who was previously disqualified from vying for vice-chairman.

Residents, after staging a protest last week, rejected the list of candidates recently released by the party for the upcoming local government elections.

On Tuesday, during a follow-up demonstration in Agege, the APC-PCC members loudly declared, “Enough is enough,” accusing Obasa of consolidating control over all political positions within the community.

Participants displayed banners with slogans such as ‘Red Card, Obasa, Otoge,’ and sang songs calling on President Tinubu to step in and address the issue.

Kamardeen Sabitu, Chairman of the APC-PCC for Agege and Orile-Agege, spoke to journalists, recounting their ongoing struggle against Obasa’s dominance.

He emphasized that their protests are not disloyalty to the APC, stating, “There is no true democracy in Agege. This struggle began years ago; we even lost one of our leaders in 2018 during a protest, with 11 of us jailed.”

Sabitu added, “One person shouldn’t dictate our political future. We oppose dictatorship and political imposition. Our goal is inclusiveness. We remain committed party members and support President Tinubu wholeheartedly, but Obasa must stop imposing candidates. He should hold proper meetings with local leaders. So far, we’ve collected over 2,000 signatures rejecting the current list.”

Another council member, Saheed Obadina, expressed loyalty to Tinubu, saying, “We support Tinubu’s second term, but Agege cannot be controlled by just one man. Obasa needs to allow the people to choose their leaders.”

Omolola Abiodun also raised concerns about the suitability of the proposed chairman, noting, “The person presented as chairman has been bedridden for months. This isn’t democracy. There are more capable individuals within our community.”
