In a statement released by Comrade Orobosa Omo-Ojo, Director of Publicity Committee for the Edo APC Governorship Campaign Council, the party condemned the action as an admission of failure by the governor.
Governor Obaseki’s decision to remove Alli, whom he accused of obstructing his administration’s objectives, was labeled by the APC as predictable yet indicative of the state government’s mismanagement.
The party accused Obaseki of resorting to scapegoating and alleged mismanagement of state resources through over-reliance on consultants.
“The government’s claims of resolving to finish strong ring hollow amidst its inability to meet fundamental needs such as healthcare, education, and infrastructure,” the APC statement declared.
Highlighting ongoing projects left unfinished, the party asserted skepticism over Obaseki’s ability to redeem his tenure’s final months.
According to Vanguard, the APC’s criticism underscores growing tensions ahead of the upcoming gubernatorial elections, casting doubts on the ruling People’s Democratic Party (PDP)’s ability to fulfill electoral promises.
The statement concluded with a stark warning of impending disgrace for the PDP, citing failures in governance as grounds for voter discontent.
The dismissal of Dr. Alli, coupled with the APC’s scathing assessment, sets the stage for heightened political rivalry as the state gears towards crucial electoral decisions in the months ahead.
