BREAKING: APGA announces date, guidelines for primaries

Ahead of the November 2025 governorship poll in Anambra State, the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) has announced the date for the primary election in the state.

In a statement issued by the National Organising Secretary/Secretary, Electoral Committee 2025, Ifeanyi Mbaeri, the party’s governorship primary election will take place on Saturday, April 5.

Mbaeri in the statement announced that the event would take place at the Dr Alex Ekwueme Square, Awka, Anambra State’s capital city.

According to Mbaeri, a five-member electoral committee has been constituted by APGA’s National Working Committee to see to the smooth running of the exercise.

He said, “The primary election shall commence at 8am prompt with accreditation of delegates and observers. The accreditation exercise shall take place outside the premises of Dr Alex Ekwueme Square, Awka on the tarred road leading to the New Government House.

“Accreditation of delegates and observers shall run from 8am until its closure by noon. Any Delegate or Observer who is not on queue before 12noon shall not be accredited,” Mbaeri said.

He also noted that only delegates and observers who present their valid means of identification would be accredited and allowed entrance into the venue of the primary election.

While stating that delegates must be seated in their designated stands, Mbaeri also said that all accredited persons must wear their tags through out the exercise.

In addition, he said voting would conducted in a civilised manner and at the end of the process, the ballot would be counted and results declared by the Electoral Committee.

“The APGA 2025 Governorship Primary election shall be conducted in strict compliance with the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, the Electoral Act, 2022 and INEC Guidelines/Regulations for Political Party Primaries.

“To that end, all Delegates and Observers are mandatorily required to strictly comply with these Modalities/Guidelines,”  Mbaeri concluded.
