BREAKING: At Amadeus University, Akpabio, Akobundu Promise Stronger Education Policies, Task Youths on Excellence

Senate President, Senator Godswill Akpabio, emphasised that the National Assembly will persist in enacting policies designed to enhance the delivery of quality education across the country. He highlighted that this is essential not only for safeguarding the nation’s future but also for empowering youths to tackle the challenges ahead.

Senator Akpabio made these remarks on Saturday during the opening ceremony and inaugural matriculation of Amadeus University, Amizi, in Ikwuano LGA.

Represented by Senator Austin Akobundu of the Abia Central Senatorial District, Senator Akpabio asserted, “In government, we have a dual responsibility: not only must we enact effective policies, but we must also ensure their vigorous and genuine implementation. We must foster the growth of institutions like Amadeus, encouraging them to innovate and serve as bastions of intellectual excellence. Moreover, we invite the private sector, philanthropists, and all individuals of goodwill to join us in this noble endeavour.”

Earlier in his address, Akpabio advocated for supportive conditions that enable students to excel in their studies, regardless of their location. “We must guarantee that every child, whether from the bustling streets of Lagos or the serene villages of Abia, has the opportunity to learn, grow, and succeed. This is not merely desirable; it is essential! A nation that neglects to educate its youth has, in effect, sealed its own fate,” he declared.

Senator Austin Akobundu, in his remarks, urged the matriculating students to seize the opportunities provided by their parents and the university to work diligently towards their ambitions, thereby preparing themselves to lead responsibly in the future.

“Let me reassure parents and guardians that choosing this institution for your children will yield significant rewards. The university authorities are committed to creating a world-class institution that equips students to compete successfully with their peers globally while upholding high standards,” he affirmed.

In his address, Dr. Godwin Nwabunka, Founder and Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Amadeus University, stated that the institution was established to empower, inspire, and cultivate the next generation of African leaders.

Meanwhile, the Vice Chancellor of the university announced that the newly admitted students span across all 19 NUC-recognised courses offered by the institution.

The event was attended by the Governor of Abia State, Dr. Alex Otti, who was represented by the state’s Commissioner for Tertiary Education, Prof. Uche Eme Uche.

Highlights of the ceremony included the presentation of an award to Senator Godswill Akpabio, recognising him as the “Doyen of Education and Transformational Leadership,” and the ceremonial cutting of the tape to officially open Amadeus University.
