The former vice president of Nigeria, Atiku Abubakar has expressed shock over the death of a chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Oby Nwaogu.
Atiku described Nwaogu as a dedicated leader of the party and his long-time loyal supporter.
Stating that the late Nwaogu was committed to the affairs of the PDP and his presidential ambition, Atiku said she was pivotal to the covering of the 36 states across Nigeria and the FCT throughout his campaigns.
He wrote on X, “I am shocked and saddened at the passing of Dr. (Mrs) Oby Nwaogu, a dedicated leader of the Peoples Democratic Party.
“The Imo State born politician was my loyal supporter for a very long time. Her loyalty and commitment were made manifest in her pivotal roles covering the 36 states plus the FCT in my last two presidential runs.
The two-time presidential candidate for the PDP further commiserated with the family and loved ones of the late Nwaogu.
He said, “My thoughts and prayers are with her family and friends. On behalf of my family and team, I wish to offer my profound condolences to the Nwaogu family. May they be comforted. I pray that her soul finds eternal rest.”
