BREAKING: Bashir Ahmad Responds After Tinubu Met With State Govs and Ruled Out Importation Of Food

After President Bola Ahmed Tinubu met with the governors of the 36 states and ruled out importing food as a solution to the high cost of food items across the nation, Mr. Bashir Ahmad, a prominent member of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and a former presidential adviser, responded.

Reacting, Mr. Bashir Ahmad pointed out that President Tinubu has stated that Nigeria is capable of feeding itself. He continued by recalling that the same thing was stated by previous President Buhari, who stated that Nigeria had to create its own food and that it was not feasible to keep importing goods that could be made domestically due to limited resources.

Mr Bashir Ahmad made this disclosure in a post he made on his official X handle on Thursday afternoon.

He wrote: “President Tinubu has dismissed the need for food importation, stating that Nigeria possesses the capacity to sustain itself by producing its own food. In former President Buhari’s words “We must produce what we eat. We don’t have unlimited resources to continue the importation of food items that can be produced locally.”

It should be recalled that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, today met state governors in Abuja, to discuss insecurity and the increase in the prices of food items across the country. During the meeting, President Tinubu reportedly ruled out food importation as solution to the high cost of living across the country.
