BREAKING: Bobrisky Slams EFCC Amid Officer’s Fatal Shooting in Anambra Operation

Nigerian transgender media personality Okuneye Idris Olanrewaju has taken to social media to criticize the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) following the tragic death of one of its officers, Aminu Salisu.

The Assistant Superintendent of Officer (ASO) was killed during an operation in Anambra State.

Bobrisky, who recently faced police charges for the abuse of banknotes, expressed his disdain for the EFCC, calling them “the most wicked people in Nigeria.”

He recalled an incident when, during his own ordeal with the police, the EFCC had requested Papaya’s phone number and how he had refused.

He wrote:

“Even though I’m not talking to her, I won’t be heartless enough to set her up like that, because I wasn’t trained to be a snitch.”

The EFCC had confirmed Salisu’s death after he and other investigators were involved in an operation on Friday, January 17, at Dr. J.O. Ukwutinife Close in Ifite, Awka.

They were attempting to apprehend suspected internet fraudsters when one of the suspects, identified as Joshua Ikechukwu, fired upon the officers, fatally wounding Salisu and injuring another.

EFCC spokesperson Dele Oyewale explained that the operation had already resulted in the arrest of 37 fraud suspects when the shooting occurred.

Ikechukwu, having spotted the officers via a CCTV camera, refused to cooperate, prompting the fatal altercation. Salisu and his team had been working to arrest the suspects when the shooting took place.

The EFCC also detailed that Ikechukwu was reportedly involved in illegal online activities, including fraudulent medical supplies and coding.

Two laptops, iPads, and other devices were seized from his apartment as evidence. Ikechukwu is currently in police custody and will face trial.

The commission condemned the spreading of false narratives surrounding the officer’s death and expressed disappointment at those who defended the suspect’s actions.

The EFCC had vowed to bring those responsible for attacking its officers to justice.
