
The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has announced the upcoming 299th meeting of its Monetary Policy Committee using four indigenous languages, Yoruba, Hausa, Igbo, and Pidgin.
The meeting is expected to come up on the 19th-20th February 2025.
The apex bank made the announcement in a series of post on X (formerly Twitter), using the different languages:
In Yoruba language, the announcement reads:“Kere O 299th MPC, Ipade kokan din loodunrun igbimo MPC yio waye ni #MPC”
Igbo: “Okwa di oke mkpa 299th MPC, Ogbakọ komitii na afu maka atumatu ego #MPC”
Pidgin: “Korret Informate, 299th MPC, Committee for Moni mata #MPC”
It would be recalled that the MPC meeting was initially set for February 17–18, before being shifted to February 19–20.
The MPC meeting is a key event shaping Nigeria’s economic outlook, influencing decisions on interest rates, inflation control, and overall macroeconomic stability.
