The Chief of Defence (CDS), General Christopher Musa, on Thursday acknowledged that although there was a notable increase in the tempo of attacks, it would not diminish the military efforts in combatting the scourge.
To this end the CDS charged members of the Armed Forces of Nigeria (AFN) to forge ahead, remain focused and committed always in the fight against terrorism and other emerging security threats.
A statement by Acting Director of Defence Information, Brigadier General Tukur Gusau, said that the CDS made this observation, when he joined members of the Armed Forces to break the Christian fast in Abuja on Thursday.
General Musa noted that the task ahead was daunting, but called on personnel to work together as a team to form more success stories in all the theatres of operation across the nation.
The CDS also asserted that President Ahmed Tinubu has continued to support the AFN by providing the necessary resources and equipment to prosecute the fight against the enemies of the state.
The event, the military spokesperson said, was the initiative of the CDS for both Christian and Muslim personnel to dine together to encourage unity of purpose and a shared concept of jointness in the Armed Forces of Nigeria (AFN).
General Musa also stressed the need for sustaining the initiative, as it would encourage tolerance and comradeship.
He emphasised the significance of the spiritual, health and physical benefits of fasting. According to him, fasting helps to instil discipline, endurance and closeness to God, which are essential for military regimentation. Musa appreciated the troops for their sacrifice and dedication to duty despite the difficult challenges.
