The Flying Eagles of Nigeria Head Coach, Aliyu Zubairu, has released a 24-man squad for the upcoming under-20 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).

The Flying Eagles squad include captain Daniel Bameyi, goalkeeper Ifeanyi Harcourt, and forward Kparobo Arierhi. Other notable inclusions are: German-based forward Precious Benjamin, Emmanuel Chukwu of TSG Hoffenheim and Caleb Ochedikwu of Croatian side NK Uljanik Pula.

Zubairu’s selection, which balances local and international talent, aims to secure an eighth continental title when the tournament kicks off in Egypt in 10 days.

The Flying Eagles, seven-time African champions and two-time FIFA Under-20 World Cup runners-up will depart Nigeria on Sunday.

They are scheduled to play a series of warm-up matches in Egypt before their group opener against Tunisia on Thursday, May 1, in Cairo. Nigeria will then face Morocco on May 4, followed by a final group-stage clash against Kenya on May 7.

The top four teams from the tournament will qualify to represent Africa at the FIFA Under-20 World Cup in Chile, scheduled from September 27 to October 19.
