Senator Austin Akobundu, representing Abia Central Senatorial District in the National Assembly, has conducted inspection visits to his ongoing skills acquisition centre projects across several local government areas within the district. These initiatives reflect Akobundu’s steadfast commitment to empowering youth and transforming them from job seekers into job creators.
The skills acquisition centre in Ikwuano LGA has made remarkable progress, having reached the lintel stage, with roofing set to begin in three weeks. A similar achievement has been observed in Isiala Ngwa North, where the Centre, previously flagged off, has also reached the lintel stage.
Hon. Collins Ugochukwu Iheonunekwu, who represents Isiala Ngwa North State Constituency in the Abia State House of Assembly, inspected the project on behalf of the esteemed Senator and provided updates, assuring constituents of timely completion.
Furthermore, land acquisition for comparable centres in other local government areas is nearing finalisation, with construction expected to commence promptly after the festive season. These centres are intended to offer vocational training and certifications, equipping youth with globally competitive skills for a brighter future.
Elder Amaobi Chinyere, a local resident, praised the Senator for the Centres, emphasising their crucial role in reducing youth idleness and restiveness while fostering productivity.
Reinforcing his commitment to the comprehensive development of Abia Central, Senator Akobundu remarked, “These projects are part of a broader strategy to uplift every local government in the district. My goal is to create a legacy that will endure beyond my tenure in the National Assembly.”
It is worth noting that Senator Austin Akobundu had previously inaugurated the construction of several skills acquisition centres in November 2022 as part of the activities commemorating his first year in office.
