BREAKING: CONYL Honours CDS For Leading Charge Against Insecurity

The Coalition of Nigerian Youth Leaders (CONYL) has honoured the Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), General Christopher Gwabin Musa, with an Award of Excellence in recognition of his exceptional leadership in the fight against terrorism and banditry across the country.
The award was presented on Tuesday, May 6, 2025, at a ceremony held at the Defence Headquarters in Abuja. Although General Musa was unavoidably absent due to official engagements, the award was received on his behalf by Rear Admiral Olu Bankole, Chief of Defence Civil-Military Relations.
Speaking during the presentation, CONYL president general, Comrade Goodluck Ibem, hailed General Musa’s dedication and strategic leadership, which he said had contributed to significant military gains against insurgents and criminal groups threatening national peace and security.
“This award is a reflection of the deep appreciation Nigerian youths have for the sacrifices of our Armed Forces, and the visionary leadership of General Musa in confronting insecurity head-on,” Ibem stated.
Rear Admiral Bankole, in his response, thanked CONYL for the recognition, noting that it would spur the Armed Forces to do more. He reiterated the military’s commitment to defending the nation’s sovereignty and working closely with communities to ensure lasting peace.
“The CDS remains focused on deepening collaboration with security agencies and stakeholders, while embracing intelligence-led operations to dismantle criminal networks,” he added.
The event drew youth leaders, civil society actors, and members of the media, all of whom commended the Armed Forces for their role in safeguarding the country.
