BREAKING: Court Adjourns Case Of Air Peace Passengers Accused Of Unruly Behaviour

The Magistrate Court of Lagos State, Ikeja Magisterial District, has adjourned the case involving three passengers accused of unruly behaviour aboard Air Peace Flight No. P4 7579 from London to Lagos.

The defendants—Adewale Adedigba, 52; Magnis Ashibuogwu, 50; and Iwunze Benjamin, 30—were charged following an incident on February 12, 2025, at approximately 8:00 PM.

According to the police, the trio disrupted the flight by shouting loudly, creating panic and causing a public disturbance among passengers and crew members.

Their actions were said to constitute a breach of public peace, contrary to Section 168(1)(d) of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State, 2015.

Additionally, it was alleged that the defendants unlawfully left their assigned economy class seats and occupied seats in the business class cabin without authorisation.

This act violated Section 4(1)(a)(b) of the FAAN Bye-Law 2005. Airline staff intervened and reported the matter to authorities upon arrival at Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Ikeja.

Following their arrest by airport police, the passengers were arraigned before the court under the jurisdiction of the Airport Command.

The prosecution, led by SP Oladipupo Taiwo, stressed the importance of enforcing aviation regulations to prevent future occurrences.

During the court proceedings, the defendants’ pleas were not taken. Consequently, the magistrate adjourned the case to March 3, 2025, to allow both the prosecution and defence to prepare their submissions. If found guilty, the defendants face possible fines or imprisonment.
