A Federal High Court in Lagos has sentenced Nollywood filmmaker, Emeka Mbadiwe, to five years in prison for importing 17.30kg of “Canada Loud,” a potent strain of Cannabis Sativa.
Justice Ambrose Lewis-Allagoa convicted Mbadiwe after he pleaded guilty to charges filed by the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA).
The NDLEA prosecutor, Abu Ibrahim, said Mbadiwe was arrested on December 24, 2024, at the NAHCO Import Shed, Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos, after drugs were found in a shipment from Houston, USA.
The court forfeited the drugs and an iPhone Pro Max 12 found in his possession.
Mbadiwe was sentenced to five years in prison, with an option of a ₦3 million fine.
