BREAKING: Dele Farotimi speaks after being released from prison

Dele Farotimi, a prominent human rights lawyer, has regained his freedom after fulfilling bail conditions set by a magistrate’s court in Ekiti State.

Farotimi had been detained in connection with a defamation case brought against him by the police over allegations in his book, Nigeria and its Criminal Justice System, involving senior lawyer Afe Babalola.

The court had previously granted bail on Friday, requiring N30 million, two sureties, and additional restrictions, including the submission of his passport and refraining from media engagements.

Upon his release, Farotimi acknowledged the support of his associates and well-wishers who stood by him during his detention.

He reflected on the challenges of his advocacy journey and reaffirmed his commitment to seeking justice.

“The thing I want all of you to know is that I am not unmindful of the sacrifices you have made to be here today.

“It is not ever an easy journey when you are fighting evil.

“Years ago when I started this walk, God told me and I heard it very clearly. He says once have I spoken and twice have I heard that power belongs to Him.

“He says the truth is enouh. It is the only weapon by which you can slay the monster called Nigeria. The truth. Nothing else.

“In my public advocacy, my fight and my wars against this evil empire that we all live in, I have never lied against anyone. If I don’t know, I’ll say I don’t know”, he said.
