[BREAKING] Delly Ajufo: The Obidient Movement Will Overwhelm the Merger of PDP, APC

Amid a wave of defections from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Delta State, Labour Party stalwart, Delly Ajufo has issued a strong warning to political rivals, asserting that the Obidient Movement remains a powerful and unrelenting force in the region.

Speaking during an interview on ARISE NEWS on Wednesday, Ajufo expressed confidence in the future, refusing to disclose specific plans ahead of the 2027 elections, while affirming the strength of the Obidient movement.

“We have Obidients in Delta State that is ready to overwhelm any political party. I say it categorically. The Obidient movement in Delta State will, not can, will overwhelm the merger of PDP and APC. Those are slogan-based political parties.”

Ajufo dismissed the legitimacy of official election results from the 2023 gubernatorial polls, saying,

“Let me begin by saying that the statistics being given about the percentage scored by the Labour Party in the 2023 general election is erroneous. It’s not correct. We have a situation where figures are allotted to various political parties. The tsunami that greeted the presidential election in Delta State was unprecedented for the Labour Party.”

Ajufo claimed that despite financial inducements and political intimidation, Labour Party members stood their ground,

“Some of us, including my very self, were offered humongous sums of money, something that I’ve never seen in my life, to support the ruling party, PDP, who rejected it on principle.”

Reacting directly to the wave of defections, he described them as inconsequential and rooted in self-interest.

“Look at the characters that are defected for personal interest. All of them, without exception. If you talk about Delta North, it’s going to be worse. Because those defecting are all gunning for the same positions… It’s not going to affect anything. The fortunes of Labour will be better enhanced by their defection.”

Ajufo offered a biting critique of Delta’s political leadership, calling them “harlots of Jericho… People who will use their positions to invite foreigners, to invade them and occupy the territory. But we know better. They are protecting their loot.”

When asked about Labour Party’s internal cohesion and the party’s national leadership dispute, Ajufo said,

“We don’t even reckon with Labour Party as a party at the moment in Delta State… Recently, we saw somebody called Julius Abure calling on the president to intervene in Labour Party affairs. For God’s sake, what does he want the president to do? You’re calling a lion to come and interfere in the affairs of sheeps.”

Clarifying the nature of the movement, Ajufo emphasised, “Obidients is not a political… Obidients is a movement. You understand? And anywhere we go, we’ll overwhelm them. It’s like a weevil. You know how a weevil comes to a farm and overtakes it and overwhelms it? We are waiting.”

As legal battles and leadership disputes continue to rock the Labour Party nationally, Ajufo made it clear that the Obedient Movement in Delta is unshaken and ready.
