The Chairman of the Delta Internal Revenue Service, Chief Solomon Ighrakpata, has urged revenue-generating MDAs to build on the achievements of 2024, where the state’s IGR hit N157 billion, surpassing the N110 billion target.
Speaking through the Executive Director (Operations), Dr. Frank Nwugo, during a meeting organized by the State Ministry of Finance in Asaba, Ighrakpata noted that the state recorded an average monthly revenue remittance of 13.1%, a significant improvement from the 7.5% recorded in 2023.
He revealed that the Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) contributed N133 billion, representing 96% of the total IGR, while the Ministry of Lands and Surveys/Urban Development generated N4 billion (3.38%). The Ministry of Urban Renewal followed with N317 million (0.27%).
Ighrakpata encouraged MDAs that performed below expectations to improve in 2025, stressing that the goal is for non-oil revenue, such as IGR, to be sufficient to fund recurrent expenditures, including salaries and wages.
