BREAKING: Ebonyi Group Holds Induction, Welcomes 65 New Members

A social group operating under the auspices of the Ebonyi Prestigious Club (EPC) held its inaugural induction and leadership inauguration on Saturday, committed to promoting the development of both the state and humanity.

This event sought to dispel concerns regarding its formation as a political association, clarifying its position as a social entity dedicated to contributing meaningfully to the advancement of society and Ebonyi State.

During his opening remarks at the induction and inauguration ceremony, held at Cirenes Hotels in Abakaliki, the Ebonyi State capital, the Caretaker President and Board of Trustee (BoT) Chairman, Sir Chika Nwoba, stressed that the EPC exists solely to promote the expansion and sustainability of humanity, as reflected in its creed and motto. He asserted that it is neither a political nor a religious organisation.

Speaking on behalf of the occasion’s chairman, Chief Alex Ozone, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of O3 Media, Nwoba welcomed all attendees to the gathering. He expressed gratitude to God for their safe arrival and for the opportunity to unite and foster a positive social front for improved living standards in society. Although time did not permit him to acknowledge everyone individually, he paid tribute to the chairman, remarking, “It is notable that the chairman is one of us.”

Nwoba further clarified, “As we all know, the EPC is not a political organisation. It is a social club like many others. However, we are distinguished by our composition. The EPC is a gathering of accomplished young men across various professions—educated individuals, traders, entertainers, lawyers, media practitioners, and more.

“Our members extend beyond this room; some reside in England, the USA, South Africa, the United Arab Emirates, and elsewhere. Even if they could not be here in person, they are with us in spirit. We have much to offer in terms of entertainment and camaraderie.

“Let us be clear: the EPC is not a political pressure group. We do not align with any political party, nor are we a religious organisation. We are entirely social—focused on the welfare of society and mankind, dedicated to fostering growth. Therefore, please do not perceive us through a political lens; we seek no political turmoil.”

The newly inaugurated President, Barr. Moses Ugboh, along with ten other executive members, delivered a brief lecture entitled “Unity in Purpose.” He urged members to align their actions with the Club’s goals to ensure its aims and objectives remain central.

Ugboh stated, “When purpose is unclear, abuse is inevitable. One can be part of an organisation without understanding its purpose. It is vital for us at the EPC to grasp our core purpose.

“Purpose, no matter how well defined, cannot be achieved by one individual alone. If your understanding of purpose revolves solely around yourself, then you misinterpret its essence. Today’s world is interconnected; we cannot act in isolation. This unity is why the EPC has come together—to fulfil our shared purpose.

“History shows that great achievers are driven by purpose. Purpose cannot thrive in isolation; unity is essential to achieving it. Hence today’s discussion on ‘Unity of Purpose’: if we pursue different paths, we cannot reach a common destination.”

Other newly inaugurated executive members include Comrade Eze Onyebuchi Chukwu (Vice President), Dr. Nweli Hillary (Secretary), Hon. Monday Joseph (Organising Secretary), Prince Otubor Oforbuike (Legal Adviser), and Edward Nnachi (Publicity Secretary), among others.
