BREAKING: Economic Downturn: Kogi commences distribution of Palliatives

Following the biting hunger occasioned by scarcity and souring cost of essential commodities, has marshal out plans to alleviate the suffering of the people.

Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo who disclosed to newsmen shortly after his meeting with the President, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, his Vice, Kashim Shetima and the State Governors, promised to address the problem of food scarcity.

He said issues associated with economic downturn will be addressed frontally as his Government has put in place necessary arrangement for quarterly food palliatives and cash incentives for every household in the state.

“All necessary arrangement has been put in place for the flag-off of the first quarterly food palliative and cash support for the people of Kogi state, “the Governor said.

He explained that the grains and cash for logistics are in place and details of the modalities for distribution are being worked out by the state distribution team, assuring that in a couple of days the state government would commence the distribution of grains and cash support to all households across the 239 wards in the State.

“This is in line with our campaign promises to key into the policies and programmes of the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the Federal Government of Nigeria” he assured.

Governor Ododo who also assured the people of a hitch free distribution of the commodities throughout the state, called for the active involvement of community leaders, religious leaders and other stakeholders for the smooth intervention.

He further reaffirmed that his administration is already working on long term measures for agricultural development in areas of livestock and crop production to guarantee food security in Kogi for both local consumption and export.
