BREAKING: EFCC Dismisses 27 Officers, Gives Reasons

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on Monday, January 6, announced that it has dismissed a total of 27 officers from its workforce.

The disclosure was made in a statement released by the commission’s spokesperson, Dele Oyewale, who stated that the officers were dismissed in 2024.

According to Oyewale, the officers were dismissed for various offences bordering on fraudulent activities and misconduct.

He said that the officers’ dismissal followed the recommendations by the Staff Disciplinary Committee of the EFCC which was also ratified by the chairman of the commission, Ola Olukoyede.

Oyewale said that the chairman is committed to zero tolerance for corruption with the commission and has warned that no officer of the EFCC is immune to sanctions.

He said, “Every modicum of allegation against any staff of the Commission would always be investigated, including a trending $400,000 claim of a yet-to-be-identified supposed staff of the EFCC against a Sectional Head. The core values of the Commission are sacrosanct and would always be held in optimal regard at all times.”

He also warned the public against falling for activities of impersonators and blackmailers who specialise in using the the name of the EFCC chairman or top officials of the commission to extort money from high-profile suspects being investigated by the anti-graft agency.
