The Ekiti State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) on Friday unanimously endorsed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Governor Biodun Oyebanji for second terms in office, citing their impactful policies and commitment to good governance.

The endorsement was the major highlight of a special APC caucus meeting held in Iyin Ekiti, which brought together top political figures including the state’s first civilian Governor, Otunba Niyi Adebayo; immediate past Governor, Dr. Kayode Fayemi; Deputy Governor, Chief (Mrs.) Monisade Afuye; Senator Yemi Adaramodu; Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Adeoye Aribasoye; former Deputy Governor, Prof. Modupe Adelabu, and several serving and former lawmakers.

Moving the motion for President Tinubu’s endorsement, Senator Yemi Adaramodu (Ekiti South) praised the President for bold economic reforms and security strategies that, according to him, have begun yielding results across the nation.

“I move that we in Ekiti APC, want to adopt continuity, starting from our President, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, that comes 2027, we are moving that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu should continue as President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and that the Renew Hope Agenda shall continually be renewed”.

Adaramodu also dismissed concerns over political realignments outside the APC, describing them as routine in a democratic environment.
“We are not worried. What do you expect politicians to do other than play politics? Whether through lies or propaganda, they have to try something.”

The motion for the endorsement of Governor Oyebanji for a second term was moved by the Speaker of the State Assembly, Rt. Hon. Adeoye Aribasoye, who described the Governor as a leader committed to the people’s welfare and the state’s development.

“I, Hon Adeoye Aribasoye, rise to move a motion of utmost importance concerning the leadership of our great party, APC under the leadership of our dear Governor Biodun Oyebanji who has demonstrated outstanding leadership qualities characterised by integrity, dedication and deep commitment to the welfare and development of Ekiti and that his sterling performance has resulted in remarkable infrastructure development, enhance security, improved healthcare, education outcomes and the overall social economic growth of the state, I therefore move that this distinguished caucus of our great party APC, in Ekiti pass a vote of confidence in Governor Oyebanji, affirming our unwavering support for his leadership and vision for Ekiti.”

In their separate remarks, former Governors Dr. Kayode Fayemi and Otunba Niyi Adebayo expressed confidence in Oyebanji’s leadership, describing his achievements as unifying and progressive.
Fayemi recounted an interaction with a Senator from the UK who had visited Ekiti, praising what he called the “Ekiti magic.”

Otunba Adebayo echoed similar sentiments, saying “Everyone is pleased with the work he is doing. He has our full support to seek re-election.”

Responding to the endorsement, Governor Oyebanji thanked the APC leadership in the state for their confidence in him and expressed deep appreciation to President Tinubu for creating an enabling national policy environment.
“I count myself lucky to have former Governor Adebayo and Dr Fayemi in my corner and I count it as a blessing for Ekiti State, not all states have leaders that are committed to the development of their state and the people,” the Governor asserted.

He also responded to the ongoing political noise about alignments outside the APC: “We are not worried. What do you expect politicians to do other than play politics? Whether through lies or propaganda, they have to try something.”
