Ekiti State Governor, Biodun Oyebanji, has called on Christians to use the Lent season as a time for deep reflection and intercession, praying for the state and Nigeria at large.
In a statement released on Wednesday by his Special Adviser on Media, Yinka Oyebode, the governor urged believers to reflect on their lives and global developments while also interceding for peace and progress in the country and beyond.
Emphasising the importance of unity, Governor Oyebanji encouraged people of all political and religious backgrounds to coexist harmoniously, noting that collective peace is essential for the state’s growth and development.
He also pointed out the coincidence of Lent with the ongoing Ramadan fasting, urging both Christians and Muslims to take advantage of the spiritual season to promote love, peace, and mutual understanding among different religious groups.
Reaffirming his administration’s commitment to security and development, Oyebanji assured residents that efforts are ongoing to make Ekiti a safe and attractive destination for local and foreign investment.
“We wish all our Christian brothers and sisters in Ekiti and beyond a fulfilling Lenten season. We seek your prayers and support for our administration and our beloved state, especially during this sacred period,” he said.
