BREAKING: Enugu Community Leader Remanded in Prison for Vandalism

The former President General of Udi Town in Udi local government area of Enugu State,  Emmanuel Eneoli has been remanded at the Enugu correctional facility over alleged vandalization.

The remand order was given by the Magistrate of Court 1 Enugu North, Magistrate S.O Chukwuani on January 20, 2021 over his alleged involvement in the vandalization of electricity installation in the community among other things.

In the matter with charge number: MEN/3C/2025 Mr. Eneoli and others are facing other charges such as promoting local war against some members of the community.

The four-count charge reads;

“That you Emmanuel Eneoli ‘m’ and others now at large between the months of April and December 2024, at Umuoka community in Udi,
within the jurisdiction of this Honourable Court did conspire to commit felony to wit: promoting local war and inciting violence; you thereby committed an offence punishable under Section 495(a) of the Criminal Code, Cap 30, Vol. II, Revised Laws of Enugu State of
Nigeria 2004,

“COUNT II: That you Emmanuel Eneoli ‘m’ and others now at large, on or about the same date, place and within the aforesaid Magisterial
District did without lawful authority, advised and aided the carrying out of, warlike undertaking against Chief Benjamin Onyia, who is the incumbent Chairman of Umuoka community, Chief Flavor Eze and other leaders of Umuoka community; you thereby committed an offence punishable under Section 86 of the Criminal Code, Cap 30, Vol. II, Revised Laws of Enugu State of Nigeria 2004.

“COUNT III: That you Emmanuel Eneoli `’m’ and others now at large, on or about the same date, place and within the aforesaid Magisterial
District did conspire to commit felony to wit: Vandalism, you thereby committed an offence punishable under Section 6 of the Miscellaneous Offences Act, Cap M17 Laws of the Federation of Nigeria, 2004.

“COUNT IV: That you Emmanuel Eneoli ‘m’, and others now at large, on or about the same date, place and within the aforementioned District did willfully and unlawfully tampered, damaged, removed, interfered wvith
Electric fittings/powerline connected to Electric plant used for transforming electricity for Umuoka community, you thereby committer
an offence punishable under Section 9 the Miscellaneous Offencess Act Cap M17 Laws of the Federation of Nigeria 2004.”

The Magistrate adjourned the matter to February 3, 2024 for further hearing
