Nigeria international, Cyriel Dessers scored a late equaliser for Rangers against Manchester United in the Europa League on Thursday night, but still lost.
Dessers had brilliantly levelled with an 88th-minute drive into the bottom corner from the edge of the area, after United had led from the 52nd minute through Jack Butland.
The Red Devils kept on the fight and secured a 2-1 victory as skipper Bruno Fernandes scored a dramatic injury-time winner.
United, now fourth on the table, will definitely make it if they win away at Romanians FCSB.
Rangers, meanhile, drop into the play-off places in 13th and need to beat Belgian side Union Saint-Gilloise on home soil next week and hope other results go their way for automatic qualification.
Meanwhile, Son Heung-min scored twice as Tottenham Hotspur claimed a much-needed Europa League win at Hoffenheim to put them in a strong position to qualify automatically for the knockout stage.
Spurs have struggled domestically in a difficult season and Sunday’s defeat at Everton left them 15th in the Premier League.
