The Youth wing of Akute West Area Community Development Committee (proposed)—AW-CDC has collaborated with financial experts to train 100 youths on soft skills like content creation and marketing, affiliate marketing, and financial trading.
The training held in Akute under the Ifo Local Government Area attracted about a hundred participants who were senior secondary school students, students awaiting enrollment in higher institutions, and young adults.
Facilitator of Content Creation and Marketing, Tope Smith, taught the participants the rudiments of the course and assigned them to create unique videos that would resonate with their audience.
The Affiliate Marketing tutor, Oluwapelumi Igbinlade, tasked the participants with the essentials of the course, not relenting in fully understanding the scope of Affiliate Marketing. Many youths were eager to learn the different aspects of financial trading as more time was given to the tutor, Mr Akintunde Akintayo, to take the students through Forex trading, cryptocurrency and Binance.
Earlier, an investment banker, Mr Albert Owolabi, whose lecture dwelt on wealth creation and character development, urged the youth to focus on their education before thinking of making money, as the lust for money can entrap them if care is not taken and they are not properly guided.
The AW-CDC youth leader, Mukadam Ridwan Olalekan Awayewaserere, stated that the vision to train the youth residents of Akute came about because of rising unemployment and the need for those employed to earn extra income.
Awayewaserere added that the fact that a good number of youths in Akute environ and beyond engage in illicit business like wire fraud, internet fraud, and scamming, known in local parlance as Yahoo Yahoo, inspired the youth wing of Akute West Area CDC (Proposed) to embark on the project to catch them young and also possibly take them away from the streets by using their smartphones to make money.
