A collaborative security operation spearheaded by the Nigerian Police Force has effectively dismantled a criminal camp situated in Nimo, within the Njikoka Local Government Area of Anambra State, during the early hours of Tuesday.
The development was confirmed in a statement released on Sunday by the Police Public Relations Officer for Anambra State, Tochukwu Ikenga.
According to Ikenga, the operation involved a coalition of security personnel, including members of the Military, Civil Defence, and Anambra Vigilante groups.
Ikenga indicated that this decisive action was prompted by reliable intelligence regarding the activities of the criminal organization in the region, as well as information gathered during the interrogation of suspects apprehended in ongoing police operations throughout the state.
The State Commissioner of Police, Nnaghe Obono Itam, praised the collaboration among security agencies and the vigilance of the community in providing actionable intelligence.
He underscored the necessity of ongoing cooperation to ensure the safety and security of all residents, particularly during and after the festive season.
In light of this development, the Commissioner of Police has urged all owners of private and public hospitals to promptly report any individuals presenting with bullet wounds or injuries of a suspicious nature to the nearest police station.
He emphasized that this measure is vital for the ongoing efforts to capture fleeing suspects and to deter further criminal activities.
The Anambra State Police Command has assured the public of its steadfast commitment to maintaining security through continuous patrols and targeted operations aimed at ensuring a peaceful festive season for everyone.
