Father in Law of US-Based Nigerian Doctor, Dr Ikenna Erinne who took his life amid child battle breaks silence on trending issue.
Recall that Ikenna Erinne, a US-based Nigerian medical doctor reportedly took his own life following a prolonged custody and child support dispute with his ex-wife, Suzette Chibuogu.
The incident occurred on Sunday, January 26, 2025.
According to reports, a US court had ruled in favour of Chibuogu, ordering Dr. Erinne to pay $15,000 in monthly child support. The hefty financial burden allegedly played a role in his decision to take his own life.
Businessman Francis Van-Lare, the father-in-law of the deceased, has publicly responded to the incident, clarifying that Dr. Erinne’s medical license was never revoked and that he maintained active licenses in Illinois, New York, Virginia, and Maryland.
Van-Lare defended the child support ruling, stating that the amount was justified due to Dr. Erinne’s physically challenged son, who required special medical care and education.
He further expressed relief that Dr. Erinne did not harm his daughter or grandchildren before taking his life.
“He is not a victim but failed his son and daughter, who are now without their father. I just thank God he did not shoot my daughter and grandchildren in his madness,” Van-Lare remarked.
