Breaking: Federal Lawmaker Ambushed by Gunmen, Several Injured
Bandits allegedly attacked Hon. Jafaru Mohammed Ali, the House of Representatives member representing the Borgu/Agwara Federal Constituency in Niger State, as he travelled to engage with his constituents.
The attack reportedly occurred on Monday, November 4, 2025, at around 11 a.m.
Reports indicate that the lawmaker was en route to meet residents of his constituency to discuss development projects planned for the area when the assault took place.
A local source disclosed that the ambush happened at Kuble village, along the Agwara-Babana road, adding that both the legislator and the security personnel accompanying him sustained serious injuries. Soldiers were deployed to the scene to secure the area and evacuate the wounded.
Confirming the attack, Niger State Police Command Public Relations Officer, SP Wasiu Abiodun, said a report was received stating that the lawmaker and his entourage were attacked at Audu-Fari village on the Babana road by suspected bandits while heading to Babana.
“However, the joint security team in the convoy responded, repelled and rescued the Honourable member to safety, while some persons sustained injuries and were taken to hospital for medical treatment,” he said.
