BREAKING: Federal University of Allied Health Sciences Enugu Resumes Academic Activities

The Vice Chancellor of the federal University of Allied Health Sciences Enugu (FUAHSE), Prof John Emaimo, has disclosed that the academic style of the university is to offer practical education on students who will graduate and to fit seamlessly into the national healthcare team.

The Vice Chancellor also disclosed that the pioneer students, who resumed official academic activities on Friday, will graduate from their respective fields of studies with double certifications and honour; bachelor’s degrees and Diploma in a chosen entrepreneurial venture.

Prof Emaimo made the disclosure during the Founders Day celebration of the university in its Enugu campus, on Friday.

He stressed that the university was founded so that graduates from the institution would become employers of labour, who would contribute significantly to national development, imbibe self-dignity, integrity and good moral standing.

“As we mark our beginning today, we are certain that tomorrow, we will celebrate greater achievements. We will not only look back to appreciate how far we have come, we will also continue to look forward to the future with confidence,” Emaimo stated.

The Traditional Ruler of the host community and the Odezuluigbo III of Nike Kingdom, HRH Igwe Julius Nnaji commended the great transformation of the healthcare manpower institution from a Dental College to the University of Allied Health Sciences.

Igwe Nnaji said that the university will produce the need manpower for the multiple healthcare infrastructure that the Enugu state governor is developing in state, adding that with the inauguration of the academic activities in the university, there will be increased clamour for admission of students into its different allied healthcare programmes.

“It’s a big transformation from a Dental college to a university, our people are now encouraged and I can now go home and sleep that we have achieved something,” Igwe Nnaji said.

The Students Union Government leader, Maurice Ugwuoti, described the Vice Chancellor as a man that the students dream to become his like.

“He has prioritized our success, we have the best of staff available, dedicated to our development, that our institution now seller reputation; we are the hope of Enugu state medical tourism,” Ugwuoti said.

Keynote and goodwill speeches were delivered by the Medical Director of the National Orthopedic Hospital Enugu, Prof. Emmanuel Iyidobi; the chairman of committee of registrars of Health of Health Professions, Prof Mark Okeji; the provost of the college of Medicine in the University of Nigeria Nsukka, Rev Prof Hyginus Ezegwui and many others.
