The Federal Government has officially declared Thursday, May 1, 2025, as a public holiday to commemorate this year’s Workers’ Day celebration.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, made the announcement on behalf of the government, stressing the crucial role of workers in the nation’s development and global standing.
He praised Nigerian workers for their dedication, resilience, and sacrifices, noting that their efforts have significantly contributed to the country’s progress.
“There is dignity in labour; the dedication and commitment to the work we do is vital to nation-building,” Tunji-Ojo stated.
The minister also urged workers across all sectors to embrace innovation and productivity in their various fields, stressing that such commitment would help drive better governance and economic transformation.
He reaffirmed the Tinubu administration’s commitment to safeguarding the lives and property of all citizens and residents in the country.
“This administration is fully committed to the security of life and property of every citizen and foreigners in the country,” he added.
Workers’ Day, celebrated annually on May 1, recognizes the achievements and contributions of workers to national and global development.
