BREAKING: FG moves to repatriate 15,000 Nigerians from abroad

The Nigerian government on Friday announced plans to repatriate about 15,000 citizens from Cameroon, Niger, Chad and other parts of the world.

The federal commissioner of the National Commission for Refugees, Migrants and Internally Displaced Persons (NCFRMI), Tijani Ahmed, said there are plans to repatriate Nigerians who are stranded in different countries.

Ahmed said the repatriation process aims to ensure the safety and dignity of these Nigerians who have become stranded following issues like displacement.

According to Ahmed, about six million people were displaced in Nigeria, and thousands of them are living in different countries across the globe.

“We have 15,000 Nigerians who want to return to the country voluntarily; we also have not less than 100,000 foreigners living in this country as refugees.

“All these are the responsibilities of the commission, to give them support,” Ahmed said.
