BREAKING: FG Orders Ministries, MDAs To Submit List Of Civil Servants On Study Leave

The Federal Government has issued a directive requiring Federal Civil Servants on study leave to provide evidence of approval obtained from the Office of the Head of Civil Service of the Federation.

Head of Civil Service of the Federation, Folashade Yemi-Esan, emphasized the importance of this measure, stating that the government has implemented a mechanism for routine verification of workers to ensure their “true” location.

In a memo addressed to all permanent secretaries and shared with our correspondent in Abuja on Friday, Yemi-Esan outlined the need for physical verification to ascertain the location of officers. She highlighted previous instances of civil servants applying for study leave with admission letters from suspicious foreign universities, prompting the government to implement measures to curb such abuse.

Yemi-Esan urged ministries to conduct a physical verification exercise of all staff and ensure that officers on study leave provide evidence of approval from the Office of the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation.

The report of the exercise is to be submitted to her office by April 2, 2024.
