BREAKING: FG prepared to receive Nigerians deported from US — NiDCOM

The Federal Government has expressed its readiness to receive any Nigerians who may be deported from the United States, according to the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NiDCOM).

Speaking on the matter, NiDCOM’s Director of Media and Corporate Affairs, Abdur-Rahman Balogun, clarified that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs is the lead agency responsible for handling such developments.

He further stated that an inter-agency committee has already been established to coordinate efforts should the need arise.

The committee comprises the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, NiDCOM, the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, and the Office of the National Security Adviser (NSA).

“The Federal Government has constituted an inter-agency committee involving key ministries and agencies to manage any potential mass deportation of Nigerians from the U.S.,” Balogun explained.

However, he emphasized that NiDCOM has not received any official communication regarding the deportation of Nigerians currently residing in the United States.

It is worth noting that approximately 3,690 Nigerians in the U.S. are reportedly at risk of deportation as part of immigration enforcement measures under former President Donald Trump’s administration.
