BREAKING: FIFA Aims To Generate $1 Billion In Revenue From Women’s World Cup

FIFA is aiming to generate $1 billion in revenue from the Women’s World Cup, FIFA President Gianni Infantino announced on Tuesday at the Saudi Arabia-US Investment Forum 2025 in Riyadh.
The 2023 Women’s World Cup, hosted by Australia and New Zealand, broke even after generating over $570 million in revenue.
“Women’s football and women in football are crucially important,” Infantino said. “It’s growing exponentially, and we are targeting $1 billion in revenue from the Women’s World Cup alone to reinvest in the women’s game.”
The next Women’s World Cup in 2027 will be hosted by Brazil, marking the first time the tournament will take place in South America. The United States is expected to be named host for the expanded 2031 edition, which will feature 48 teams, up from the current 32.
Infantino also highlighted the vast potential for football to generate more revenue outside Europe. “If the rest of the world, particularly Saudi Arabia or the United States, were to do just 20% of what Europe does in soccer, we could see an impact exceeding half a trillion dollars in GDP from our sport,” he added.
He praised Saudi Arabia’s efforts in developing women’s football, noting the creation of a women’s league and national team. “Women’s football is truly the only team sport for women with such a huge audience and impact,” Infantino said.
