A late goal by Kai Havertz gave Arsenal a 2-1 victory against Brentford in preparation for tomorrow’s highly anticipated showdown between Liverpool and Manchester City.
With a powerful header beyond Flekken, Declan Rice gave the Gunners the lead, and they maintained that advantage until the end of the half.
Wissa charged forward to pressure Ramsdale, who dawdled over a clearance, and the forward’s block looped over the line.
The goalkeeper did make up for his error though, making huge saves to deny Toney and Collins to keep his side level, though Rice did smack the woodwork with a brilliant long-range strike at the other end.
The winner was scored in the 86th minute by Havertz as he nodded in from close range, though the German arguably shouldn’t have been on the pitch at that point after getting away with a second booking.
It’s a big win for Arsenal, and it sees them leapfrog Liverpool into top spot, with the Reds playing against Manchester City tomorrow.
Now, Arteta’s team turn their attention to their Champions League last 16 second leg against Porto in midweek.
