Joe Anderson, the former Mayor of Liverpool, has been charged with bribery following a police investigation into the awarding of council contracts between 2010 and 2020.

He is among 12 individuals, including former city politician Derek Hatton, facing charges as part of this inquiry.

Anderson served as the first directly elected Mayor of Liverpool from 2012 to 2021.
