A former Comptroller-General of the Nigerian Immigration Service (NIS), David Shikfu Parradang, was killed by kidnappers in Abuja on Tuesday.
According to Daily Trust, Parradang was abducted in the Area 1 district after withdrawing money from a bank.
The attackers followed him, took his cash, and later killed him.
His death has added to growing fears about security in the Federal Capital Territory, where cases of kidnapping and targeted attacks have been increasing.
Parradang served in the NIS for over 30 years, holding various positions in Kano, Lagos, Kwara, Enugu, and Abuja.
He attended professional courses both in Nigeria and abroad.
He was also honoured with the national award of Officer of the Order of the Federal Republic (OFR) and was a distinguished graduate of the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS).
Security agencies have begun investigating the attack and are working to track down those responsible.
The Nigerian Immigration Service has yet to release an official statement, but an official confirmed the incident.
