Former Senate President Bukola Saraki has declared support for the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Asue Ighodalo, in the upcoming Edo State gubernatorial election.
Saraki, a chieftain of the main opposition PDP, served as the 13th president of the Nigerian Senate from 2015 to 2019.
He made his endorsement public through a social media message.
Saraki described Ighodalo as a leader with “unquestionable integrity, unparalleled vision, and dedication to make Edo State thrive.”
He highlighted Ighodalo’s track record of driving positive change and expressed confidence that he would bring pioneering leadership to the public sector as governor.
This endorsement comes on the heels of other high-profile support for Ighodalo, including a recent endorsement by award-winning musician David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido.
The PDP candidate is hoping to succeed fellow party man, Governor Godwin Obaseki, who is rounding up his final term in office.
