BREAKING: Four New Senators Take Oath, APC Comes Out Stronger

Senate President, Senator Godswill Akpabio has sworn-in four senators elected in recent by-elections, increasing the representation of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the upper legislative chamber.

The new senators are Danladi Envulu-Anza, senator representing Nasarawa north senatorial district, Asogwa Israel, senator representing Enugu north senatorial district, Olaka Nwogu, senator representing Rivers south-east senatorial district, subsequently took the oath of office and Dayo Faduyile, senator representing Ondo south senatorial district.

Speaking after the brief swearing-in ceremony, Akpabio prayed against further deaths among senators in the 10th Senate,

His words: “Whilst welcoming our four colleagues to the chambers, I want to pray that God Almighty should rest in peace those that departed and pray that nobody again, in this chambers, will lose his life.

“I want to thank our distinguished governor, the deputy governor and all the delegation that accompanied the senators.

“I congratulate the APC for winning three seats in the mid-term elections and congratulate the PDP, for winning one seat.”
