BREAKING: FRSC Personnel, 17 Others Die In Ikorodu–Sagamu Road Crash

A yet-to-be-identified Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) personnel and 17 others lost their lives on Saturday in a tragic accident along the Ikorodu–Sagamu road.

According to the spokesperson for the Ogun State Command of the FRSC, Florence Okpe, in a statement made available to THE WHISTLER, the crash involved seven vehicles, including two trucks.

A total of 22 people were involved in the multiple-vehicle collision that happened around 4:00p.m — 14 males, six females, and one child. Four individuals sustained varying degrees of injuries.

Okpe explained that the FRSC personnel were conducting a rescue operation following an initial crash between two vehicles when another vehicle, reportedly experiencing brake failure, ran into the scene, killing the FRSC officer.

The injured victims were taken to Dasochris Hospital in Gbaga, while the deceased were deposited at the Olabisi Onabanjo University Teaching Hospital (OOUTH) morgue.

“The Sector Commander is pained over the recklessness of drivers and the number of crashes recorded today and is attributed to speed and brake failure.

“He advised motorists to drive within the stipulated speed limit and observe road signs as well,” Okpe stated.
