The Rivers State Government has officially conferred recognition on four traditional rulers, granting them staff of office and certificates of authority.
Among the newly honored monarchs is Mujahid Asari Dokubo, a former Niger Delta activist, now acknowledged as His Royal Majesty, the Amanyanabo of Torusarama Piri in Degema Local Government Area.
The ceremony, held at the Government House in Port Harcourt, also formalized the appointments of HRM Winston Odize Alamina Oputibeya XII as the Amanyanabo of Koniju in Okrika, HRM Noble Friday Uwoh as the Eze Igbu-Ehuda in Ahoada-East, and HRH Prince Ike Ehie as the Eze Igbu Orilukwoe in Ahoada-East.
Governor Siminalayi Fubara underscored the roles of the traditional rulers in promoting harmony and governance within their communities.
He advised the monarchs to prioritize their communities’ welfare and collaborate with the government to ensure security and development.
The governor also highlighted the government’s authority to revoke recognition in cases of misconduct, urging the rulers to maintain integrity and foster stability in their domains.
