A tanker loaded with Premium Motor Spirit also known as petrol burst into flames after it overturned in the Ikeja Along area of Lagos State.
Naija News reports that the incident happened late on Wednesday night, February 11, 2026, when the petrol tanker lost control and fell on the road.
After the vehicle tipped over, fuel spilled across the area and a fire started shortly after.
The blaze spread around the tanker, causing fear among residents and road users nearby.
Emergency officials moved quickly to the scene to manage the situation.
Officers of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority and other rescue teams were present to control traffic and respond to the fire.
Motorists were diverted away from the area to prevent further danger as efforts were made to contain the flames.
In a related development, a fatal road accident occurred on Tuesday along the Okota–Isolo corridor of Lagos after a commercial minibus burst into flames.
Naija News reports that the incident led to the death of two people while eight others sustained injuries.
The incident, which happened on February 10, 2026, involved a yellow commercial bus popularly called Faka with registration number SMK 823 YK.
According to information released by the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority, the vehicle was moving along the Ballet inward route toward Mile 2 in the Okota area when the crash occurred. See more
