National chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Abdullahi Ganduje, has stated that after President Bola Tinubu’s tenure, power will shift to the North.
Ganduje made this statement on Tuesday in Abuja while meeting with the Tinubu Northern Youth Forum.
He assured the group that the APC remains committed to zoning, just as it did in the past.
According to him, since a Northern leader ruled for eight years before Tinubu, it is only fair that the South also completes eight years before power returns to the North.
“We are happy that our party believes in zoning. When a leader from the North was in office for eight years, we supported the South to take over. Now, we are working hard to ensure our president completes his second term in 2027. After that, by God’s grace, it will be the North’s turn again,” Ganduje said.
His statement comes amid reports that some Northern politicians are not in support of Tinubu running for a second term.
However, Ganduje insisted that APC’s zoning agreement remains unchanged, and the party is focused on ensuring stability.
He praised the Tinubu Northern Youth Forum for its efforts in political mobilization and encouraged them to continue their support for the party.
He also assured them that the APC would work with youth groups across the country to strengthen its base ahead of the 2027 elections.
