BREAKING: Gen Gowon “When I was fighting Civil War, I was told I was too slow &probably, Nigeria cannot make it”

General Yakubu Gowon underlined the significance of giving President Bola Ahmed Tinubu time to produce noticeable results, citing comparisons with his leadership during the American Civil War.

He emphasized that government criticism was inevitable but asked Nigerians to wait patiently for significant change.

The former military Head of State, Gowon, discussed his personal experiences during the Civil War in an article published by The Sun. He remembered seeing similar objections and skepticism on Nigeria’s future.

Gowon urged Nigerians to exercise patience, citing his own tenure where he was initially deemed too slow. He noted that the challenges and complexities of governance are often not fully understood by critics.

In Gowon’s words: “When I was fighting the (civil) war, I was told I was too slow, and probably Nigeria cannot make it, and that we should seek for discussion.

Well, did we do it or not? They probably do not know the problem underground, so that is where we are”.
