A Special Adviser to Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, Sunusi Kwankwaso, has resigned from his position following his principal’s exit from the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP).
Naija News reports that Sunusi announced his resignation on Friday in a video shared on Facebook by his media assistant, Saifullahi Alhassan.
Sunusi stated that Governor Yusuf was likely to align with the All Progressives Congress (APC), but stressed his continued allegiance to the Former Governor of Kano State, Rabiu Kwankwaso, and the Kwankwasiyya political ideology.
According to him, he had previously written a resignation letter, but attempts to submit it through official channels proved unsuccessful.
Sunusi further disclosed that the letter was also forwarded to the Office of the Secretary to the State Government, where it was similarly rejected.
He said, “After learning that the governor had left the NNPP and was expected to move to the APC, I tendered my resignation, but it was not received.
“This video is to officially notify the public that I have resigned from my role as a political adviser. I am grateful for the chance to serve and for the work we carried out together over the last two years.
“I will not abandon Kwankwaso or the Kwankwasiyya movement. My loyalty remains with Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, and I have no intention of joining the APC.”
