The governor of Abia State, Alex Chioma Otti, has reportedly begun a crackdown on members of the Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) within the state.
Journalist101 has reliably learned that opposition PDP members are being detained on allegations of treason by the state government, following the party’s establishment of a shadow government.
A source from within the party informed our correspondent that “a member of the shadow government, Barr. Henry Chilaka, Shadow Commissioner for Local Government and Community Development, was arrested in Aba on the governor’s orders.”
The source, who wishes to remain anonymous, further disclosed that they are unable to account for four other members in Aba.
“Police reportedly received a petition from the Abia State Governor stating that the shadow government constitutes treason. This arrest occurred even after the Abia PDP had agreed to honour the police’s invitation on Friday,” the source added.
Journalist101 recalls that the Chairman of the Abia State chapter of the PDP, Elder Abraham Amah, had previously announced the appointment of notable Abians to serve in the Abia State Shadow Government (ABSSHG).
