Premier League giants, West Ham United have officially announced the appointment of Graham Potter as their new manager.
Graham Potter, 49, has signed a two-and-a-half-year contract with West Ham, succeeding Julen Lopetegui, who was let go after six months in charge.
Potter steps in while the Hammers sit 14th in the Premier League, seven points above the relegation zone, and with six league victories this season. This marks Potter’s return to management after his tenure at Chelsea ended in April 2023.
The team is gearing up for an exciting FA Cup third-round match against Aston Villa on Friday at 20:00 GMT.
In his first interview with West Ham TV, Graham Potter expressed his pride and enthusiasm in taking on the role of Head Coach. He emphasized his admiration for the club’s rich history and traditions, as well as his respect for the passionate fanbase and community.
Potter is excited about leading a talented squad and is committed to fielding well-coached teams that deliver entertaining, adaptable, and winning football.
He also highlighted his eagerness to develop promising young players from the club’s academy and to strengthen the ties between the club, their players, and the dedicated supporters who back them from the stands at London Stadium and around the globe.
Potter’s impressive journey in management includes guiding Östersund from the Swedish fourth tier to the UEFA Europa League, achieving a record-high Premier League finish with Brighton & Hove Albion, and reaching the UEFA Champions League quarter-finals with Chelsea.
“It’s a very proud day, and I’m genuinely excited,” Potter stated. “I can’t wait to meet the players, get on the training pitch, and engage with the supporters who have always been so supportive of their team.
“West Ham has always struck me as a passionate and ambitious club with loyal supporters and a strong family feel. I’m eager to get to know everyone and to become part of this community.”
